Eileen Ann Miller of Pahrump, Nev., died March 31 following a long illness. She was 76.
Born Eileen Ann McHugh Jan. 14, 1937, to Frank and Sally McHugh of Brooklyn, N.Y., she graduated from Catherine McAuley High School and married Thomas (Patrick) Miller on Feb. 5, 1955. The couple started their family in Brooklyn and later moved to East Meadow, Long Island in 1971. In 1980, she and Pat moved to Silverthorne, where they lived until retiring to Pahrump in 1997.
Eileen was a busy mom of four and also drove a school bus on Long Island. After their move west, she helped run an auto parts business in Frisco with Pat. While in Colorado, she was a member and later chair of the Silverthorne Planning Commission and was also involved in Silverthorne Elks Lodge No. 2561.
In Pahrump, Eileen continued her involvement in the Elks, joining as a full member and attaining the position of Leading Knight at Pahrump Lodge No. 2796. She was about to take the leadership position as Exalted Ruler when she took ill in 2010.
Eileen is survived by her husband, Patrick; children Patrick Jr. (Susan) of Stowe, Vt., Susan Caggiano of Breckenridge, Sharon Anderson (Greg) of Boulder and Alex Miller (Jen) of Highlands Ranch; and brother, Thomas McHugh of Carefree, Ariz. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sally.
A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pahrump Elks Lodge, 2220 East Basin. In lieu of flowers, please offer any donations to the Pahrump Lodge, PO Box 5544, Pahrump, NV 89041. The Lodge will forward the donation to the Elks National Foundation in Eileen’s name.
