Obituary: James (Bud) Shepherd

James (Bud) Shepherd

James (Bud) Shepherd died in Denver, Sept. 12, 2013, after a fall. Bud was born in Ogden, Utah. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Quinn, in 1948. They had five children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Bud was very delighted & proud of them all. Bud was a Union Pacific engineer for 20 years and owner/operator of Andy’s Chuck Wagon restaurant for 30 years. After retirement he and Joan moved to Frisco and built their home in the Reserve. They had many happy hours here in Summit — skiing, biking, hiking and playing golf with family and friends. He and Joan moved to Highlands Ranch two years ago. He immediately began remodeling their home — painting, laying tile, electrical and plumbing work — all things he liked doing. Bud loved gardening and always had a beautiful yard. He liked taking trips; he and Joan traveled the world. He also took his children and their spouses on anniversary trips to Cozumel, the Greek isles and Puerto Vallarta. A memorial will be held Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E County Line Road, Centennial, Colo. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Summit Foundation, Breckenridge. Bud was loved by all who knew him and will be missed by many. Please share your memories of Bud and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook at horancares.com.
