Nancy Madara Secor
Nancy Madara Secor, age 56, of Dillon, Colorado, passed on to a higher place on September 4, 2013.
Born October 17, 1956, Nancy is remembered by her husband Stephen and three children: Amy of Denver, Peter of Golden, and Kelly of Dillon. She is also survived by her parents Constance and Samuel Madara of Moorestown, New Jersey; Siblings: Steven (Lin) Madara of Dublin, Ohio, Sue Coffee of Moorestown, New Jersey, and David (Lisa)Madara of Moorestown, New Jersey, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Nancy graduated from Moorestown High School in 1975. She was known not only for her athleticism, but also her leadership and sportsmanship. She was awarded the Eisenberg Award for “Best Female Athlete” of the graduating class.
Growing up she spent her summers racing sailboats on Long Beach Island, New Jersey and devoted her time as a counselor in the youth Skipper-Skipperette program. Nancy was an accomplished sailor and shared her love for the water with her family and friends.
Nancy graduated from Susquehanna University in Seilings Grove, Pennsylvania in 1979, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and a minor in Psychology. She was a crucial member of the Women’s Susquehanna field hockey team.
Nancy moved to Colorado in 1979 for what she thought would be one winter ski season, fell in love with Steve and the Colorado mountains, and knew she would never leave. She worked in Keystone until 1987 at the Keystone Lodge and Keystone Ski Resort, where she was the Director of the Race Department. Nancy captained the Keystone sailboat during the summer.
Nancy began her own photography business from home and focused on photographing sporting events and Summit High School senior portraits. Friends, family and the community will always remember Nancy for her breathtaking photography, determination and selfless devotion to her family.
In lieu of flowers a Nancy Secor Memorial Fund has been established for her children. Memorial contributions may be sent to: Nancy Secor Memorial Fund, Alpine Bank, PO Box 4457 Frisco, Colorado 80443. Donations may also be appreciated to a charity of your choice.
