Photos: Hiking Huron by Kim Fenske

Kim Fenske of Copper Mountain likes to climb big mountains in all seasons. Here are some photos and a brief account of a climb he undertook Thursday morning:
I have been trying to gain the summit of Huron for the past few weeks. A couple of weeks ago, I hiked 12 miles round-trip from Vicksburg through Winfield to the trailhead. Parked below due to deep snow on the Forest Service Road.
Today, I was stuck and spinning on ice, slightly high-centered, one car length below Winfield. After a half-hour struggle, got a push from a Jeep.
Parked at a safe distance and hiked 6 miles round-trip through deep snow up Mount Huron to 11,500 feet.
