‘Strings,’ ‘Cadaver’ screen at Breckenridge Backstage Theatre

“Strings” is the story of a troubled musician who, in the wake of his daughter’s death, seeks out an experimental therapist to turn his life around. When the therapist calls for him to leave everything behind and take on a new identity, the musician realizes his new life isn’t what it seems and his therapist is using patients to commit vigilante crimes. After eight years as a criminal, he sneaks back to visit the life he left behind.

“‘Strings’ is a complex thriller drama with intricate character portraits that keeps audiences guessing as to how the plot will resolve itself,” said Janice Kurbjun, executive director of Breckenridge Festival of Film. “With its intriguing cinematic aspects and story line, it’s no wonder ‘Strings’ won the Audience Award during its world premiere at the Breckenridge film festival in 2011 and went on to capture awards at Long Island and SoHo film festivals, among others.”

‘Cadaver’

“Cadaver” follows a dead body who wakes up to say a last goodbye to his wife but discovers a truth in death he didn’t know in life. He goes on a little road trip with a couple of girls who work in the morgue. The short was directed by Jonah D. Ansell and has a voice cast that includes Christopher Lloyd, Tavi Gevinson and Kathy Bates.

“Cadaver” won Best Animated Short from a handful of festivals, including the Chicago International, Hollywood Film Festival and Cyprus Film Festival.

“You just can’t see these awesome shorts outside of film festivals,” said Laurie Rambaud, from the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre. “I love that we get to see them paired up with great films. Next week, I am really looking forward to the All-Shorts night.”
