ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. — A 13-year-old girl was rescued Monday after she hurt her leg while hiking with her dad at Rocky Mountain National Park.

The teen’s father hiked to find better cell phone reception and called for help. Rescue workers traveled over steep terrain damaged by the Fern Lake Fire before finding the pair.

Park search and rescue team members put the teen in a lift to bring her 200 feet above a rock cliff. A helicopter flew her to an ambulance and she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Park officials are not identifying the girl, who’s a minor, or her dad.
