Skico extends ski season at Aspen Highlands

ASPEN — Aspen Highlands will be open for an extra weekend, on April 27-28, “in appreciation of skiers and riders for a great weekend,” Aspen Skiing Co. announced Monday.

Highlands was already scheduled to remain open through Sunday, April 21. It will be closed Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26, then it will reopen Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28. The closing day festivities already planned at Highlands this Sunday will go on as scheduled, according to Skico.

Consistent snowfall over the last week has made for great conditions and enjoyable spring skiing and riding on the mountain, Skico said in an announcement.

Aspen Mountain, Snowmass and Buttermilk will remain closed.

At Highlands, the Exhibition chairlift will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day the ski area is open. The Loge, Cloud Nine and Deep Temerity lifts will run until 3:30 p.m.

“We are skiers and snowboarders and it is snowing like crazy, so of course we will reopen,” David Perry, Skico senior vice president, said in a statement. “This is a big thank you to everyone. Let's finish the season with smiles on our faces.”

All Aspen-Snowmass season passes are valid as they are during the regular season. As of Monday and through April 28, adult tickets are $62 per day, $57 for youths and senior tickets and $42 for children. Children six and under ski for free. Additional days for Classic passholders through April 21 and April 27-28 are $35 for adults and $20 for children, youths and college students. Double Flex and Flex passholders can also add a day for $35 from through April 21 and April 27-28.

Season passholders from any other Colorado resort can buy a lift ticket at Highlands for $39. The season pass must be a picture pass and presented at the ticket window.
