Rocky Miles memorial service is Friday

A memorial service for Rocky Scott Miles will be held at the outdoor chapel by Solitude Station at Copper Mountain Ski Resort this Friday, August 17th at 10:30 AM. Mr. Miles tragically died in a house fire at Fenelon Falls, Ontario, Canada on August 5th. He was a long-time resident of Summit County and an eight-year veteran ski patroller at Copper Mountain.Rocky was born in Abilene, Kansas on September 29, 1980 and moved to Colorado in 1983. He graduated from Thornton High School in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Cecilia, and his three-year-old son, Oliver; brother, Luke Miles and wife Chris; sister, Bethany Miles-Balderrama and husband Jeromey; father, Jim Miles and wife Pam; mother, Sharon Miles-Hastings and husband Walt; step-brothers Michael and Charles Hastings; grandparents Lewis and Louise Miles, and a large number of relatives and friends who love him.In addition to ski patrol, Rocky worked a variety of jobs in Summit County, including ski instructor, firefighter at the Keystone Fire Department and ski tech at Precision Ski & Golf. In recent years, he was employed by Alem International as a senior product specialist, traveling extensively as he marketed high end BMW and Rolls Royce automobiles.Rocky loved everything outdoors, seeing the world, sports, Frisbee golf, and cherishing time with family and friends. He was an excellent musician-jazz trumpet and guitar, an excellent cook, as well as a skilled charcoal artist.Friends are invited to the memorial service, followed by a barbeque reception at the Double Diamond Restaurant at the base of the Super Bee lift.In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Oliver Rosco Miles Education Conservatorship, 1608 Mallard Drive, Johnstown, CO. 80534.
