Salem plays a free show at Alma’s Only Bar tonight

Conscious, jazz-infused, energetic neo-soul, hip-hop and electronica
Mountain style, laid-back folks and some ragers; we have played there many times and at the THC festival as well.
The Risan Project’s mission is to engage global audiences and make them aware of climate change and global warming science. More importantly, we empower our audiences to take action to reduce or reverse their impact on global warming through education and community outreach. Our primary area of exploration is glacier science and our message is delivered through innovative entertainment programs including solar-powered concerts and film premieres, transportation using renewable resources and sustainable event production.
I believe that there are things that we can do as individuals and as a collective to better our social condition. Clearly there is disparate access to resources globally and I believe that we have vast opportunities in the U.S. to work towards change.
I am inspired by the national environmental movement especially around the Keystone XL pipeline and fracking, especially with the amount of fracking going on here in Colorado.
I put together a ski and snowboard film premiere series with the Silverthorne Pavilion that will feature the 2012 film premieres of Absinthe Films, Standard Films, Matchstick Productions and Level 1 Productions. These are on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, and we will have raffles and also will launch an amateur film contest with an awards party in April. I have secured some new endorsements for Salem/Risan Project film and music events with Able Planet headphones, Planet Earth eco clothing, Swany gloves’ new Eco-Circle line of gloves, Fischer, Line Skis, Goal Zero solar products and ABS airbags.
I am working on some new tracks at Far & Away Studios with Geoff Gray and David Snider; I have a soundtrack for an election commercial with Kenny Lee Lewis, guitarist from the Steve Miller Band, that should be airing on Comcast next month. I am prepping for a live DVD recording at our concert at the Belly Up in Aspen on Nov. 7. I am also dialing in my annual spring Alaska heli-ski lodge tour with some new venues and working on getting some funding for filming the tour and backcountry glacier expeditions for TV.
I produced and performed a film premiere tour from Colorado through British Columbia, Canada, and was amazed at the region from Banff west through Lake Louise, Golden and Revelstoke. I was able to coordinate the involvement of the Canadian Climate Project and gold medalist, Adam Kreek, as part of some events. That zone is crazy because it is glaciated and big mountain terrain similar to Alaska, but they have sunlight, like we do, all winter – whereas in Alaska, the sunlight is not really there until mid to late February – so it was a nice realization.Salem’s free show starts at 10 tonight at Alma’s Only Bar, www.almasonlybar.com.
