Schweri: Support Emily Tracy for SD8
October 8, 2012
This letter is in support of Emily Tracy for District 8 state senator. I have lived in the High Country for over 6 years, and this is only the second time that I?ve been moved to submit a letter in support of a candidate. I am moved to do so because of how impressed I have been with Emily?s dedication and sensitivity to the needs of all of the residents of her district.
I feel that the increasing degree of partisanship and unwillingness to compromise seriously jeopardizes our democracy. The political demonization of one?s opponents only causes gridlock and negativity. Emily, on the other hand, is committed to working in a bipartisan way to find solutions to the issues facing Coloradans. She brings extensive experience in mediation and conflict resolution to this task by virtue of her employment with the Office of Dispute Resolution in the Colorado Judicial Branch for four years. She is also well-versed in the issues facing the counties of Senate District 8.
In addition to working more than 20 years in child services, Emily has served on numerous boards and commissions tasked with economic and environmental planning (Summit Chamber of Commerce, Canon City City Council, Great Outdoors Colorado Committee, Summit County Planning Commission, etc). This means that she will be up to speed on efforts to create more jobs, protect the water rights of the Western slope, advocate for agriculture, and improve education from day one as our state Senator. She will not need to spend her time “learning the ropes.”
I have observed Emily in action and know that she has the best interests of the constituents of Senate District 8 at heart. I intend to vote for Emily Tracy, and urge you to do so as well.
