Speakeasy hosts Oscar party in Breckenridge
February 23, 2012
If nothing else, Oscar night is good for gawking at stars’ dresses and adding movies to your Netflix list.
To celebrate it locally, Karin Litzmann, owner of Speakeasy Theatre in Breckenridge, invites people to watch it on her theater’s big screen, beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday.
This weekend, the Speakeasy shows “The Artist” – the film Litzmann thinks will “win it all this year,” since it’s snagged 10 Oscar nominations, she said. (Shows start tonight and play daily at 5 and 7 p.m., with additional matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; however, evening shows are canceled Sunday due to the Oscar party.)
Sunday’s bash includes champagne, snacks, prizes, games and raffles for $20 – or $15 if you email Litzmann at firstname.lastname@example.org and print out her invitation, which entitles you to $5 off.
“Mix, mingle, holler at the bad dresses and hairdos (and) play along with Oscar Bingo,” she said, adding that costumes or fancy dresses are encouraged.
“Thanks for supporting us all year long,” she said. “Now let’s get to know each other and have some fun.”
