BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Evan Gordon’s buzzer-beating layup in overtime lifted Arizona State past Colorado 63-62 Saturday night.

Gordon’s game-winner came after Spencer Dinwiddie’s bucket with 8.3 seconds left had given the Buffaloes a 62-61 lead. Gordon finished with 14 points.

Jahii Carson’s 18 points led the Sun Devils (19-7, 8-5 Pac-12), which won for the first time in four tries in Boulder and swept the season series against the Buffaloes.

Dinwiddie led Colorado (17-8, 7-6) with 24 points and Askia Booker added 17 to break out of a four-game shooting slump.

The game was tied at 52 at the end of regulation following a furious rally by Colorado from a 54-48 deficit with 1:19 left. The Buffs tied the game on Xavier Johnson’s dunk with 2.5 seconds left and Carrick Felix missed a potential game-winner at the buzzer.

The Buffs went ahead 60-59 on Andre Roberson’s jumper in overtime, but Carson’s runner put the Sun Devils on top 61-60 and forced a timeout with 1:10 left in the extra period.

Dinwiddie missed a layup for the Buffs with a minute remaining. Gordon missed a 3-pointer but Jordan Bachynski grabbed the offensive board. Felix missed two free throws and the Buffs took the lead with 8.3 seconds left then watched the dagger fall through the hoop at the buzzer as the Sun Devils celebrated.

It was just the sixth loss in 48 home games under Colorado coach Tad Boyle.

The Buffaloes lost center Josh Scott to a head injury four minutes into the second half when he got tangled with Bachynski, who elbowed Scott in the head, sending him crashing to the floor. Scott, however, was the one whistled for the foul.

Dinwiddie capped an 11-0 run with a 3-pointer from the left corner to put Colorado ahead 22-15, but Gordon, who didn’t start for the first time all year, got the Sun Devils going with a 3-pointer of his own and Arizona State finished the half on a 12-2 run to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.

The Sun Devils were one of just a-half dozen schools that had used the same starting lineup all season, but after losing five of nine they shook things up Saturday, starting senior guard Chris Colvin in place of Gordon. They wanted Gordon to provide points off the bench and this also served to get Colvin his minutes early before the Buffs could send him to the line since he’s a 37 percent free-throw shooter. Colvin had 10 points and six boards in a loss to Utah earlier in the week.

The Buffs were coming off an emotional 71-58 thumping of No. 9 Arizona on Thursday, after which Boyle implored his team to bring as much energy into the game against the Sun Devils as they brought in routing the Wildcats in front of a frenzied crowd. Associate Athletic Director David Plati said it was the loudest he’d heard in 35 years in Boulder.
