SUMMIT VS. STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — LADY TIGERS LACROSSE, APRIL 26

A regular season varsity girl's lacrosse game against league foes Steamboat Springs, hosted at Steamboat High School on April 26. The Lady Tigers won, 9-7, after returning from a three-point deficit in the first half. The win gave the Summit girls a 3-9 overall record and 2-4 record in the 4A Western Slope. The next match against Valor Christian on April 30 at home was canceled due to snow.

Summit has two games remaining: an away game at Eagle Valley on May 4 and a home match against Rifle on May 5 for Senior Night. The final game begins with varsity at 4 p.m., followed by JV at 5:30 p.m.

SUMMIT VS. PALISADE — TIGERS BASEBALL, APRIL 30

A regular season varsity double-header, hosted by league foes Palisade High School in Palisade on April 30. The Tigers lost both games: 4-1 in the first, 10-2 in the second. Summit had one hit in the first game and committed three errors. In the second, the local boys had six hits and committed one error. The two losses give the Tigers a record of 2-11 overall and 0-8 in the 4A Western Slope.

Junior pitcher Andrew Shaw threw his second complete came of the season en route to the 4-1 loss, and you'd better believe his team's record doesn't tell the complete story. In the 4A Western Slope, Shaw is currently ranked No. 2 with 49 Ks, which is 12 better than third-place Stephen Romero of Glenwood Springs. In the 4A state standings, Shaw is ranked No. 8 overall behind leader Cole Winn of Silver Creek High school with 69 Ks.

The Tigers have six games remaining and next face cross-country foes Battle Mountain today for a varsity double-header, beginning at 1 p.m. The game is tentatively scheduled for Edwards but could move to the Frisco ball fields with enough snowmelt.
