Ridge St. Candidates should prepare a one-minute comic monologue and be ready to cold read from the script and demonstrate a British accent; bring a resume and headshot if possible. On Saturday from 4-8 p.m., meet watercolorist Deborah Young, October’s featured artist at Arts Alive, LaCima Mall, 500 S. Main St. in Breckenridge. A Summit County local since 1986, Young finds inspiration in the local wildflowers and landscapes. She prefers to paint en plein air (outside) rather than work from photographs. The reception is part of Second Saturday, a monthly gallery art walk. For more information on Second Saturday, including participating galleries, visit http://www.breckgallerywalk.com.
The Summit Daily Arts & Entertainment and Special Sections department has an internship opportunity available starting in November. Interns will commit to a set schedule of two to three days per week, with duties to include writing articles, proofing pages, fact-checking and organizational duties as assigned. A background in journalism and knowledge of Associated Press style preferred. This is a great way to build a portfolio of published clips while learning the ins and outs of the newsroom under the guidance of a college teacher. Send two journalistic or magazine-style writing samples to email@example.com.
