Rowdy Shadehouse Funk Band, a high-energy group based in Denver, comes to the Snake River Saloon in Keystone tonight. The five-member band serves up both covers and originals, and is known foot-stomping dance music. The Denver Post described frontman Jon Thursday’s voice as “unrefined, and somehow earthy,” and the lyrics as “raunchy and fun.” On Saturday, the Denver jam band, Home, takes the stage at the Snake. Salem, led by Todd Anders Johnson, brings its “conscious, jazz-infused, energetic neo-soul, hip-hop and electronica” blend to Alma’s Only Bar again tonight. Inspired to work towards socially and environmentally conscious causes within the winter film industry, the group tours nationally with the Risan Project, which centers public attention on glacier science. “Hating Breitbart,” a feature-length documentary on controversial New Media pioneer, Andrew Breitbart, opens tonight at the AMC Westminster Promenade 24 in Westminster. “Even before his untimely death earlier this year, Andrew had in many ways already achieved iconic status as a fearless activist and champion of conservative values,” filmmaker Andrew Marcus said. The documentary seeks to explain how and why Breitbart declared war on the mainstream media and the institutional left.

Access Gallery, 909 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, presents an exhibit showcasing the paintings of three deaf artists – Nancy Rourke, Tony Fowler and Warren Miller – whose latest work focuses on the deaf culture in America. “De’VIA” (Deaf View, Image, Art) runs through Nov. 10.
