Summit Public Radio & TV welcomes volunteers who would like to help with our annual membership drive today, from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Hobby Room at the Summit County Community Center in Frisco. Join us for breakfast and a couple hours of envelope stuffing and labeling. Bring a friend if you like! You do not need to be a member of SPRTV to volunteer.
Former President Abe Lincoln comes alive, just in time for this year’s presidential election! Join us on Friday at 7 p.m., in the Buffalo Mountain Room, County Commons, at the main library, Frisco, as we present “Presidential Qualifications by Abraham Lincoln.” Lifetime member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters, John Voehl has performed as our 16th president more than 500 times in 20 different states, and has read more than 300 books about Lincoln, who he says “became the greatest [president] of all.” Voehl believes in making Lincoln come alive for each audience member. This event is presented with the Colorado Humanities Council, and is a part of our “Elect to Read” program for adults, sponsored by the Friends of the Summit County Libraries. For more info on this or other upcoming events or programs, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, call Joyce Dierauer, at (970) 668-5555 or contact her by email at email@example.com; visit http://www.summitcountylibraries.org; “like” us on Facebook; follow us on Twitter; or simply come by and visit with us at any of our three locations, in Frisco, Breckenridge and Silverthorne.
A celebration of life will be held in honor of Dick Orwig on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Dick preferred a party rather than a service and all friends/family are welcome. Come help us toast Dick, swap stories and enjoy music, snacks and a cash bar.
The town of Frisco is offering the cost of an energy audit for multi-family boards or homeowners associations that apply to the High Country Conservation Center. If the audit shows promising energy and cost savings, another $2,000 is available toward upgrades. This is a first-time program and we are looking for leads on multi-family housing in need of this service. Think your housing organization might benefit from an upgrade? Give us a call at (970) 668-5703 or email Lynne, firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Summit County Library is seeking a dedicated person to fill one vacant position on the library board. Being a library board member requires a time commitment of two to three hours per month, for one meeting in which members discuss and manage library policies, oversee the library budget and implement new strategies to achieve library objectives and goals. Board members will also be asked to assist with the new south branch project, which will require some experience with fundraising and grant writing. In addition, board members may serve on Library committees, which will often require more time. If you are interested in becoming a member of the library Board, submit a letter of application and resume to: Summit County Library Board, P.O. Box 770, Frisco, CO 80443 by 5 p.m. on Nov. 15. If you would like more info on this position or on any other volunteer opportunity with the Summit County Library, call Joyce Dierauer, library director, at (970) 668-4130.
