Parents of teens, join the Family & Intercultural Resource Center for Active Parenting of Teens, a parenting workshop focused on teaching you methods of respectful discipline, skills for improving communication, strategies to prevent risky behavior, how to be an encouraging parent and other issues facing teens. This six-week workshop is on Mondays Oct. 8-Nov. 12 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Summit Middle School. Cost is $48 per person or $72 per couple and includes dinner and childcare. Join Silvana’s Community Gardens and master gardener Diana Reznikoff for the End-of-the-Season Gardening workshop. This is an educational workshop on what home gardeners can do to prepare for winter and get a head start on next year’s garden. The workshop is Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Blue River Room, Silverthorne Library, 651 Center Circle, Silverthorne. The workshop is free with a $5 suggested donation and open to the public. Rare opportunity for a piece of mountain history! Thanks to the generosity of Vail Resorts and Breckenridge Ski Resort, the Peak School in Breck is offering a limited quantity of genuine, four-person high-speed quad, Colorado Superchairs from Breckenridge for sale. These chairs are in excellent condition, with good padding on the seat. The Peak School has a limited number of chairs for sale for $600 each. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance is seeking items for display in the ski museum in Breck, including old Breckenridge Ski Resort maps, brochures, lift tickets, season passes, photographs, Ullr posters and other memorabilia from the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. On Oct. 12, at Beaver Run join Advocates for Victims of Assault for the inaugural Turn the Beat Around fundraiser in memory of Stephanie Roller. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of. Each ticket purchased registers you for a chance to win an iPad. We will have a cash bar and light appetizers. The night will begin at 7 and we will have a DJ and tons of silent auction items to bid on. We encourage you to dress in your favorite dance attire. All proceeds from the event will go toward emergency funds for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
