Join Silvana’s Community Gardens and master gardener Diana Reznikoff for the End-of-the-Season Gardening workshop. This is an educational workshop on what home gardeners can do to prepare for winter and get a head start on next year’s garden. The workshop is tonight from 5:30-6:30 in the Blue River Room, Silverthorne Library, 651 Center Circle. The workshop is free with a $5 suggested donation and open to the public. Eric and Donna Franzen have been a part of our community for nearly 40 years and have given us love, laughter and kindness. They have worked in and donated to this community all this time. They are now moving to Florida where the lower altitude is expected to improve Eric’s health. Join us in a benefit at Fatty’s Pizzeria on Ridge Street at 5 p.m. on Thursday to assist them with their medical bills and health care costs and to share pictures and stories. Since they can’t be here, they would love to have mementos of their time in Summit County and we will mail a box to them. Smaller designs of Donna’s Daisys will be for sale individually, and there will be a live auction at 7. Requested donation of $25 will buy you a piece of pizza and earn gratitude and good karma. The Peak School, a new independent school in Summit County, invites all interested families and community members to attend an open house on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the school, 103 S. Harris St., (Old CMC) in Breckenridge. The school is now accepting applications for January 2013 (mid-year) and Fall 2012-13 enrollment for middle and high school students. Nominations are being sought to honor individuals who have worked tirelessly to preserve and enhance our community’s natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities. Honorees will be announced at Summit’s Great Outdoors Celebration hosted by Continental Divide Land Trust on Nov. 20 at the Silverthorne Pavilion. Categories include: Philanthropist, Volunteer, Business or Corporate Leader, Community or Government Representative and Open. The Breckenridge Resort Chamber is accepting submissions for the 2013 Ullr Fest poster art contest. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, and should tie in to the 50th “Golden” anniversary theme. Winning artwork will appear on 2013 Ullr Fest poster, merchandise, advertising and other event collateral; the winning artist will receive a prize package of event merchandise.
Concept sketches must be no larger than 14″ x 17″ and can be submitted via email (email@example.com), in person at the BRC offices (111 Ski Hill Rd. in Breck) or via U.S. mail to the Breckenridge Resort Chamber, ATTN: Special Events, P.O.
