The town of Frisco and the Frisco BBQ Committee are accepting applications for the 2013 BBQ Nonprofit Partnership. Nonprofit organizations with current 501(c)3 status are encouraged to inquire and apply. The BBQ Non-profit Partnership is a great opportunity to fundraise and market your organization. The nonprofit partners selected will have the ability to generate funds based upon the agreed partnership responsibilities; a total of $35,000 is available to be awarded to six Summit County non-profit organizations. The town of Frisco is offering the cost of an energy audit for multi-family boards or homeowners associations that apply to the High Country Conservation Center. If the audit shows promising energy and cost savings, another $2,000 is available toward upgrades. Colorado State University Extension in Summit County is accepting applications for the 2013 Colorado Master Gardener Training. This signature CSU Extension program provides a unique opportunity for local gardening enthusiasts to help their community while learning more about home gardening issues. The 2013 training will take place on Thursdays at the County Commons in Frisco, from Jan. 31 to April 4, with a volunteer orientation on April 11. The 10-week course offers comprehensive, research-based instruction in home-gardening topics, delivered via distance education and presented by CSU Extension specialists. Upon completion of training, master gardener trainees agree to contribute 50 hours of volunteer service toward home-gardening education. Cost: $250. A non-volunteer option is also available for $625, and is often chosen by professionals in the green industry as continuing education. The Rotary Club of Summit County (RCSC) would like to remind residents that we would be delighted to send some of our “care” packages to our troops stationed in Afghanistan. If you have a loved one – husband/wife, son/daughter, grandson/granddaughter, niece/nephew or just a great friend – who is deployed in Afghanistan at the present time, do let us know. The Breckenridge Music Festival and Hang Time Custom Framing is now accepting entries for the 2013 poster contest. Original oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media paintings are being accepted until Dec. 1 at Hang Time Custom Framing in Breckenridge. Public voting will take place from Dec. 1-12. Art must be 18″ x 24″ or larger. Drop off or Fed Ex/UPS to Hang Time, at 135 S. Main St., Breckenridge, CO 80424. Race of the Santas/Reindeer Run is set for Saturday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m. in the Blue River Plaza in Breckenridge. All proceeds benefit Summit County Adopt an Angel. The Summit-Lake Dillon Optimists Cub will turn 40 this year and our members would like to extend an invitation to attend a dinner to celebrate our years of service to the youth of Summit County. The date is Dec. 5, and the location is Bonnie Q BBQ at 134 Lake Dillon Drive in Dillon (behind the Lake Dillon Theatre).A buffet will be served at 6 p.m. and the cost is $16 per person.
