Join the Elks for breakfast on Sunday, Veterans Day, from 9 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $12 at the door (or $10 if reserved in advance – call 468-2561). Profits will help to support a Disabled American Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in 2013 at which injured veterans will be aided in their rehabilitation process. This is a great cause so please come along and enjoy some of the Elks’ famous bacon and other breakfast goodies. The breakfast fundraiser will be held at the Summit County Elks Lodge, 1321 Blue River Pkwy., in Silverthorne. For more information call (970) 468-2561.

The superstorm Sandy has delivered a hugely devastating blow to the East Coast. The Rotary Club of Summit County is encouraging all in Summit County to contribute to its rescue by sending checks to the Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation, and specify “Sandy relief” in the memo. All of these funds will be aggregated (no administrative reductions whatsoever) and sent to a Rotary fund established to afford relief in New Jersey, New York and other hard-hit areas. Please make out checks to Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation and send to PO Box 4401, Frisco 80443.

As a Summit Daily News reader, you make our work possible.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
