The Summit Nordic Ski Club will be hosting its annual open house and informational meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Come join us at the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge to learn more about joining our club.
The inaugural Summit Fly Fishing with Colorado Vets will take place on Wednesday at Keystone Lake. Organizers are Just One Day, a nonprofit organization that provides our returning wounded troops with “Just One Day” of fishing and other outdoor adventures, and Summit Fly Fishing. Participants in the one-day event are wounded troops who have returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are currently assigned to Fort Carson’s Wounded Transition Unit. A special guest will be professional fisherman Jack Winters and sponsors include Pizza on the Plaza, who will be providing food for the participants; Eagle Claw; and Bass Pro Shops. Parents of children in middle school or high school are invited to join the Family & Intercultural Resource Center for Dialogue Over Dinner on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Summit Middle School cafeteria. Justin Pollack of Mountain River Naturopathic Clinic will be speaking on nutrition and health for teens. This is a free event with dinner and child care provided. The Breckenridge Restaurant Association is offering fall dining specials in participating restaurants as a fundraiser for Summit County Cares. Summit County Cares includes the care clinic, Family & Intercultural Resource Center, Advocates for Victims of Assault and social services. The restaurant community wants to give back to this collection of organizations that helps many of its employees, patrons and community members. Breckenridge Dining Passports are each valid for two people and get specials valid now through Nov. 15. Passports are available at the Breckenridge Welcome Center, The Summit Foundation, FIRC and participating restaurants.
An unofficial “Commanders Call” will take place at Adriano’s Bistro 240 Lake Dillon Dr. on Saturday, beginning at 2 p.m. This is a chance for all retired, active duty or veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces to get together and meet with all those who have served in the military. It will be hosted by a retired general who makes Dillon his home.Call (970) 368-0508 after 3 p.m. daily to make required reservations. Seating is limited, 18 years and older.
Lake Dillon Preschool is seeking sponsors and vendors for its fall fundraiser: the third annual “Ready for Spaghetti!” community dinner. “Ready for Spaghetti!” is Nov. 10 at the Silverthorne Pavilion from 5-8:30 p.m. Historically, this event attracts approximately 125 kids and parents, and is a great opportunity for exposure for local businesses and companies. The event includes a delicious spaghetti dinner, cash bar, face painting, balloon artist, bouncy house, a performance by the kids of Lake Dillon Preschool and the Summit School of Dance – and of course vendors!
