Summit Democrats hold county assembly

Approximately 70 local Democrats gathered March 20 for the county assembly, officially designating County Commissioners Karn Stiegelmeier and Thomas Davidson as the candidates for the Summit Board of County Commissioners in the general election.
Summit’s Democratic voters again sided with Todd Barson over Bruce Brown for district attorney in a 36-21 vote in a preference poll.
Democrats will pick a DA nominee in the primary elections June 26 to face off against Republican Scott Turner in the general election.
The Dems also heard from County Commissioner Dan Gibbs, who spoke on behalf of Rep. Jared Polis, who is running for re-election to Congress.
Frisco Town Councilwoman Eileen Davies spoke for state Rep. Millie Hamner who is facing off against Breckenridge Republican Debra Irvine for her seat. Hamner was at the Democratic assembly in Pitkin County.
Candidates for the state board of education and the University of Colorado Board of Regents also spoke at the assembly, as did Emily Tracy, the Democratic candidate for state Senate District 8.
The Democrats will next meet at the Judicial Assembly on April 5 in Frisco.
