Summit Up 11-13-12: Searching for sasquatch
Ryan Summerlin November 13, 2012
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that has a “Finding Bigfoot” addiction.
It seems that Animal Planet – a TV channel we didn’t even know existed until recently, and one we didn’t realize until the wee morning hours of Monday that we could view on basic cable – was hosting a Bigfoot marathon.
What we began watching with derision quickly developed into a weird, uncontrollable urge to find out what was going to happen next. We’re pretty sure they haven’t actually discovered a real sasquatch – we do check the national wire every day and no one in the corporate suites can remember coming across a story confirming the existence of some half man, half ape, half we’re-not-quite-sure beast roaming the High Country. As with any great adventure, the quest itself can be just as fun or even more so than the discovery. For some reason we just can’t seem to turn off this show.
We seem to the have a “squatching problem” as our favorite cast member of the show, James “Bobo” Fay, would say.
As we sat in front of the ol’ boob tube until the early hours of the morning, it got us thinking about the squatches and if there have been any sightings in Summit. So with that, we ask that if you’ve seen a sasquatch or have a picture of one, send it over to firstname.lastname@example.org.
