Summit Up 2-12-13: Where the SDN travels the world
Ryan Summerlin February 11, 2013
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that lives vicariously through our traveling-around-the-world readers.
Frisco residents Bruce Cochran, Jim Fuxa, Roxanne Smith and Pam McCain recently visited 10 Central and South American countries during a 25-day cruise aboard the MV Explorer. The ship is actually a floating campus owned by the University of Virginia, which runs the Semester at Sea program.
The group traveled as part of the university’s Enrichment Voyage, beginning their journey in Nassau, Bahamas, and concluding in San Diego. Below, they can be seen brandishing the Summit Daily News while while overlooking the majestic Incan ruins of Machu Picchu.
To the right (top), you can see them pause as they trek through the Sacred Valley in Peru, and then below as they pass through the Panama Canal.
We here at Summit Up Headquarters just got back from a long trip, too – all the way from Silverthorne to Breckenridge, by way of Frisco. Whew! We’ll have to get together sometime to share our crazy traveling stories. Ah, the wandering lifestyle of the modern century. The world really is becoming a small place, yet it still manages to find ways to surprise, awe and amaze us. Hmm, wonder what Zimbabwe’s like this time of year?
