Summit Up 2-13-13: Happy nearly Valentine’s Day
Ryan Summerlin February 12, 2013
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up the world’s only daily column that would like to offer our heart-felt congratulations to Emmy Koons and Grant Soyka, who are tying the knot. It is quite the love story, just in time for Valentine’s Day, but we’ll let them give you all the deets.
They write thusly:
“Emmy is a senior at the University of Colorado-Boulder, studying international affairs and Spanish and Portuguese. She is planning to go to grad school at the University of Denver, in international administration. She wants to work as a consultant for non-profit organizations. Emmy was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Loveland. She lived for a few years in Barcelona, Spain, with her family before returning to live in Loveland.
Grant is also a senior at the University of Colorado-Boulder, studying mathematics. He is planning to get into the airline industry and work in revenue management. Grant was born and raised in Princeton, N.J., and moved to Breckenridge shortly before starting high school. He is a very talented skiing aficionado and loves anything outdoors.
Emmy and Grant were introduced by mutual friends while Grant was still studying at the Colorado School of Mines. They have been dating for two-and-a-half years. Last year, both Emmy and Grant studied abroad in England and had the opportunity to travel Europe together.
In January, Grant took Emmy up to the very top of Loveland Pass, and proposed to her with a view of the Continental Divide.”
There you have it. We here at the Summit Up World Headquarters in Frisco wish you many, many years of wedded bliss. Congratulations to you both.
And on an equally romantic note, here are some ideas for those of you who have been procrastinating the search for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift:
> Carrots! A healthier, but equally brightly colored alternative to flowers.
> A three-piece shaving kit. Maybe she won’t like it and she’ll give it to you.
> Stuffed animals are overrated. For a real surprise this Valentine’s Day, get your sweetie a live bear to cuddle with.
> A trip to visit your parents. Sure to be appreciated.
> Just about anything personalized. Who wouldn’t love a nice, shiny set of hubcaps on which the words “Your love spins me right round, baby, right round” have been engraved?
> Then there’s always the trusty fall back, chocolates and a sweet note in the Summit Daily News. The first 20 words are free! Give us a call.
Alright, folks that’s all we’ve got for you today.
