Summit Up 3-21-13: Keep your mom on speed dial
Ryan Summerlin March 21, 2013
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that was trying to inhale the fresh scent of the first day of spring and choked on snow. Such is life in the High Country we suppose. We certainly can’t complain about the white stuff that promises more days of spring skiing awesomeness and reduces the risk we’ll be torched like a marshmallow on the end of an 8-year-old’s campfire skewer this summer. Keep it coming for a few more months Ullr, the Basin’s open all spring!
On another note, we’d like to send out a very happy birthday to Frisco resident Todd Folsom, who is celebrating his 46th, oh sorry, 26th birthday today. Apart from questionable taste in sports teams and women, Todd is an awesome guy who has long dreamed of having his name appear in the pages of the SDN. That’s one birthday wish granted. If you see him out and about today, give him a high five.
People, have you ever seen a rainforest?
Neither have we, but we imagine it must be something like the soggy mess that has become our newsroom after not one but multiple leaks sprung in our roof with this March sunshine liquefying all the snow that accumulated up there over the winter. Luckily, by a happy coincidence, we brought our only umbrella to work way back when because we didn’t have space for it at home. Actually, it’s nice to finally get some use out of the thing. In 13 years living in Colorado, we’ve never actually needed it outside, as the average rain shower in this state lasts no longer than 6.84 seconds, .84 seconds less than the amount of time it takes to open an umbrella.
That’s all we’ve got for you today, folks. Eat your vegetables and keep your mom on speed dial.
