Summit Up 9-14-12: Are Ullr’s and Ollie’s really the masters of sports bars?
Ryan Summerlin September 13, 2012
Good morning and welcome to Summit Up, the world’s only daily column that’s on the lookout for the best bars for watching football in Summit County.
Yup, we’re scouting out where we can watch the mountains at the same time we can watch the game.
Where we can get the play-by-play while we make the plays – on that cute someone over there at the other table.
Where we can get good deals on food and local Colorado brews while we make bets on who’s going to win the fantasy league.
Where the music doesn’t drown out our arguments over the latest play call. And more – where everyone in the bar gets involved in the commotion.
So, here’s our call, Summit County beverage establishments. Send us the reason why you should be named the 2012 Summit Up Football Sports Bar of the Year come February.
Locals, join in too. This is your chance to let us know the specifics, getting more into the nitty-gritty than the Best of Summit ever will. We’re on the lookout all season – and you might just find us sneaking around the back room… er, hanging out with the crowd to get the true vibe.
If you’ve got sports bar suggestions (keeping in mind our criteria!), email our sports editor at
Give Ullr’s and Ollie’s a run for their money. Unless Ullr’s and Ollie’s really are the best joints to gander at multiple screens and take in a mind-numbing flurry of action…
