Sunshine, dry weather in Summit County forecast this week

The lifts are turning at three of the four Summit County ski resorts, but it will be at least a few days before they see another batch of fresh snow.

Forecasts are calling for a week of sunshine, clear skies and high temperatures in the high 40s and 50s through Thursday.

Summit’s next best chance for snow won’t appear on the forecast until Friday, when a low-pressure trough building on the West Coast may move into Colorado bringing colder temps.

The National Weather Service is giving Breckenridge a slight chance of rain on Friday, and a slight chance of snow on Friday night and Saturday. Other forecasts indicate the storm may carry over into Sunday.

Overnight temperatures will remain in the mid-20s with starry skies through the week, according to the weather service.

Breckenridge Ski Resort will be the last of the Summit resorts to kick off the season on Friday morning. Keystone Resort and Copper Mountain both opened Friday with mostly man-made packed-powder terrain. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area opened in October.
