The Living Wills return to Alma’s Only Bar tonight

The Living Wills, based in Denver, returns to Alma’s Only Bar for a free show tonight starting at 9:30. The group plays covers and originals including rock ‘n’ roll, alternative and jazz. Here, Connor Wills breaks down what the band is about:
It’s the current events on the news to the daily happenstance of our personal lives that influence our original songs. We love old pop bands like The Beatles, folk music from the likes of Bob Dylan, and we especially enjoy the old jazz giants like John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter. But we know our niche, and that’s laying down funky fresh rock ‘n’ roll grooves of our own creation.
Not so funny when it happened – but at a high school battle of the bands a long, long time ago, while we were playing, there was a bomb threat. All we saw, before they cut the power to our speakers and told us what was happening, was the whole crowd leaving with a message passing from person to person. We thought we sucked until we found out about the threat. Upon leaving the auditorium ourselves, many people told us we were awesome … our spirits returned to a heightened state and we were super pumped to play again.
Lots of excitement; we are super upbeat. … Our lead singer, Devin Wills, has a great voice that will surely soothe your ears, and his piano playing is incredibly intense and thrilling. I play a thunderous drum set that keeps the rhythms rocking. Roger and Ryan are gonna lay down all the low-end and electric guitar solos you could ask for. We play covers and originals.
We just recorded a 12-song, self-titled CD. It’s available for download at www.thelivingwills.net. Also we’ll have some CDs at the show to sell for $5 each.
