The Nocturnal Tomatoes play a free show tonight at Alma’s Only Bar

The Nocturnal Tomatoes, called “the best bar band in America” by Alice Cooper on his nationally syndicated radio show, come to Alma’s Only Bar for a free concert tonight. Here, Jonny Nelson (lead vocals, guitar) breaks down what the band is about:
The Allman Brothers, Sublime, Johnny Cash – great music from all different time periods. (We’re big fans) of Derrick Trucks, Dickey Betts and Dave Grohl.
A few years ago we played at The Goat in Summit County and after the show we were in a hot tub at the hotel with some girls. Our drummer Craig decided to walk out of the water and into an electrical room to find a switch to turn up the bubbles. He opened the door, walked in and fell 10 feet through a shaft in the floor. He was banged up really bad but was okay the next day. We still laugh about that. His nickname is “Shaft.”
Great original songs and great cover music. Lots of energy and guitar jams. We might even do a drum jam with members of the audience.
The band just got signed to an independent record deal with Soteria records. We have recorded a single that will be released with a video early next year.
The band has toured all over the country and has an EP on the way entitled “North River Mansion” due out after the single and video are released. The band will be doing a recording on Colorado Rock TV, which will air on Fox TV all over Colorado sometime in late March, early April. We love Summit County and can’t wait to be back.
