Thanks to stronger than expected lodging numbers in May, the Town of Breckenridge is on pace to exceed 2012 summer occupancy rates by about 8 percent, according to data released last week by the Breckenridge Resort Chamber & Breckenridge Central Reservations.
Unlike previous years, Breckenridge Central Reservations does not expect midweek occupancy levels to drop off significantly following Kingdom Days. Occupancy at Breckenridge hotels and lodges is expected to hold fairly steady at about 40 percent this week, the report stated.
Occupancy numbers are expected to reach the 60 percent plus range going into the last weekend of June, the report stated, which would be an increase over last year of one to three points.
During the July Fourth weekend locals can expect to see an increase in visitors by more than 10 percent compared to last year, according to the report. July occupancy is forecasted to be around 70 percent, and could reach as high as 75 percent of capacity.
