Small-business roundtable for Summit County open for registration

Small businesses in Summit County will get some big breaks at an upcoming conference.

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the Colorado Small Business Development Center Network will host a High Country Business Resource Round Table. From 8:30-10:30 a.m. at the Silverthorne Pavilion, business owners can attend presentations and get one-on-one advice from leaders about business resources in the area.

The SBDC helps small and midsize businesses throughout Colorado by providing free confidential consulting and low-cost training programs year-round.

The roundtable will feature speakers from the Small Business Administration, 1st Bank, Small Business Development Center, Northwest Revolving Loan Fund, Summit Chamber of Commerce and Dillon Business Alliance.

The goal is to help start-up or existing small businesses reach success through technology training, networking or finding loans. The event is free, but participants must pre-register in order to reserve a spot.

Lindsey Stapay, director of the Northwest Business Development Center, said businesspeople from towns all around Summit County will have the chance to talk specifically about their local concerns.

“This is a great opportunity for businesses to have access to state and local resources all under one roof, and network with other business, before we gear into the busy winter months,” she said.

Last spring, a similar business roundtable was so popular that an afternoon had to be added to accommodate everyone, Stapay said.

Bankers, lawyers and tax experts will also offer individual consultation on finance, marketing and technology, among other topics.

“People can meet and network, and see how we might assist in a rut,” Stapay said. “They can raise up their own businesses to be better.”

The roundtable is available to individuals, businesses, nonprofit organizations, governments and community members. Registration can be found at http://highcountryresources.splashthat.com, or contact hello@northwestSBDC.org for more information.
