Several local and state tax initiatives have been proposed on the Nov. 5 ballot ranging from close to $1 billion in funding for public school education to local and state retail and excise taxes on marijuana sales.

Summit County towns also are proposing a variety of ballot questions, including Breckenridge, which is trying to maintain funds for early childhood education; Dillon, which is looking to boost funds through a user-based tax on recreational rental activity; and Blue River, which is hoping to capture lost revenues by imposing a 2.5 percent retail sales tax on utilities, as well as future commercial activity.
