timeforcake: Lightning-fast Fiber TV and 5 links
September 30, 2012
Remember the days when Google was just a search engine? Now, it seems like half the Web services we use and an innumerable number of tech gadgets all sport Google’s familiar, multi-color logo – and this very well soon may include your TV service and Internet connection.Google recently introduced Google Fiber TV. Fiber is the company’s new broadband solution, which boasts speeds in excess of 100 times typical broadband connections. With the Google Fiber TV package (which will run you about $120 a month) you get the Fiber modem, the TV service (which apparently allows you to record up to eight shows at a time), a terabyte of storage courtesy of Google’s cloud service and a handy remote to control the system: the Google Nexus 7 tablet. To sweeten the pot, all the standard staples of Internet TV are included as well, including Netflix, on-demand content and movie networks – but it’s faster and better quality than what’s currently offered by devices like Apple TV and most smart televisions.Google has decided to roll Fiber out starting in Kansas and Missouri (hmm), so it’s not available in Colorado at this time. We need to practice patience.Intrigued? Learn more here: http://fiber.google.com/plans/residential/
