Ilson: Summit’s cyclists need a lesson in trail courtesy

Mind your manners, riders of the trails

I visit the area once a year. I hike and bike. I am appalled by the lack of trail courtesy by people on bikes passing from behind. I would say about 1 in 20 cyclists give a warning. If I make a comment — in a pleasant, not hateful, way — the response I get is almost always negative. Usually a middle finger or a “b----!” Who taught these people bike manners? What are they teaching their children about bike manners? Please cyclists, think of trail users other than yourselves.
