Keystone has a gift to you, the locals of Summit County, and that is this Saturday’s Mountain Town Music Festival, one of the resort’s last hurrahs of the summer season.

The line-up will include Strange Americans, a Denver-based band that claims its sound is something that “Carhartt-wearing, hard-working, industrial beer-drinking, regular Americans” would listen to. Their blue-collar rock ’n’ roll will be complimented by Ages and Ages, a band with a far different approach. The Portland-based group has been dubbed “choral rock,” with emphasis on community and spirituality. Mipso, a Chapel Hill-based indie Americana quartet, will be taking the stage this weekend as well. They are currently celebrating the release of a new album, “Coming Down the Mountain.” Their folk-rock, alt-country sound is melded together with Appalachian tradition and electric instruments to create what they describe as “panoramic soundscapes.”

Shovels & Rope will headline the the festival. They are a well-known folk group from Charleston, South Carolina. This husband and wife duo has shared the stage with Americana acts such as The Milk Carton Kids, Shakey Graves and Lucius. They’ve also opened at Red Rocks for bands such as the Avett Brothers and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.

While you dance the day away, you’ll surely work up an appetite. Delectable dishes from Colorado’s harvest will be available for sampling. Foods like Palisade peaches, Rocky Ford melons, Olathe sweet corn and Colorado elk will be on the menu.

“The Mountain Town Music Festival is a carefully curated selection of the best up-and-coming music, as well as the most delicious dishes prepared by Keystone’s finest chefs using the freshest produce and food from Colorado’s harvest” said Maja Russer, director of marketing and events for the Keystone Neighbourhood Company, the festival’s producer who also runs the Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival and the Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival. “As in years past, we’re ending the night with a bang and a spectacular fireworks display over River Run Village.”

Prepare your stomachs for the following Colorado-inspired dishes: Grilled brown sugar peaches with bourbon glaze, maple-glazed pork belly with peach habanero chutney and arugula salad, summer corn chowder with summer veggies, barbecue pork sliders with peach barbecue sauce. There will be an open beer garden for adults as well as face painting and crafts for kids.

Admission to the festival is free and so is the parking. The food dishes and drinks are available at a la carte prices. The festival will also feature Colorado artisans displaying and selling their original art, jewelry, clothing, hammocks and other items. For more information, visit KeystoneFestivals.com.
