Split Window opens for Anthony B on New Year’s Eve

Lex Rodgers

Park County band Split Window doesn’t want to see anyone standing still on the floor. The 10-piece band has been playing their unique jazz-reggae-blues fusion jams since 2012. “If at least half the crowd isn’t dancing, our speakers must be broken,” said Jodi Messa, co-founder, female lead singer, guitarist, trombone player and songwriter for the band. Hailing from all over the U.S., Split Window consists of Messa; male lead singer, guitarist, songwriter and co-founder Julian Daknis; lead guitarist Pete King; vocalists Audrey Benecke and Tracy Egolf; saxophone player Luke Sanders; trumpet player Steve Forker; bassist Jason Douglas; drummer Matt Cole; and percussionist, promoter, band manager and Alma’s mayor, Saam Golgoon. After playing all over Colorado and getting picked up by radio stations, the band hopes to play for larger crowds but will never let go of the local scene. Split Window’s next concert will be on New Year’s Eve at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge at 9:30 p.m. Split Window and Hollywood Farmers will be opening up for the main act, international reggae artist Anthony B. For the concert, 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to Building Hope, a local nonprofit focused on mental health services.

A benefit for the Fairplay Boys and Girls Club of the High Rockies is planned for January.
