Info: The discussion will focus on the book “Show Me All Your Scars: True Stories of Living with Mental Illness,” edited by Lee Gutkind, this year’s pick for the Summit Reads Community Project.
The 2017 Summit Reads Community Project will host a mental health wellness panel discussion focusing on the Community Book Choice, “Show Me All Your Scars: True Stories of Living with Mental Illness,” from 6-7 p.m.Wednesday at the North Branch Library.
“Show Me All Your Scar,” edited by Lee Gutkind, speaks to the challenges and successes of living with mental illness.
During the panel, attendees will learn about Summit County programs that are helping residents with mental illness and substance abuse. The four presenters will discuss their programs and share their professional experiences, according to a news release.
The speakers include:
• Andrea Brown works for Mind Springs Health and Safe Haven Detox and Respite Center. She will speak on the programs and services that help people with mental illness and substance abuse in Summit County.

• Skye Dayne is representing National Alliance on Mental Illness High Country Colorado and will share the local NAMI programs and services. She will also share her experience with mental illness living in Summit County.
• Sheila Brockmeier is representing NAMI High Country Colorado and Mental Health First Aid. She will speak about programs and services from both organizations.
• Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons of the Summit County Sheriff’s Department will share how law enforcement and detention officers work with people suffering from mental health issues.
Additionally, there will be a “NAMI Education Night: Crisis Services” at 6 p.m. April 3, at South Branch Library in Breckenridge.

Summit Reads is sponsored by the Summit County Library, Next Page, Building Hope Summit County, Summit County Rotary, NAMI High Country Colorado and the Colorado Mountain College Breckenridge.
