Explore the comedic possibilities that arise in a two-actor play with the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre’s production of “Love Child,” the new Off-Broadway play receiving a limited engagement Wednesday, Aug. 5, through Saturday, Aug. 8, at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge.

Revived from its successful run at the Avenue Theatre in Denver, the show once again features Steven Burge, from the Backstage production of “Spamalot,” and Damon Guerrasio, of “Shrek The Musical” fame, taking you on a wild ride as they portray more than two dozen roles and tell the story of an actor, struggling in both his personal and professional lives, who tries to open a show with a cast of outrageous artist personalities in an unconventionally dangerous venue, with his mother/agent in the audience.

Not only do Burge and Guerrasio inhabit a number of peculiar, lively, chattering personalities, but they also provide a serious amount of tech assistance when it comes to sound effects. The set is spare, composed of six chairs. Once the duo plunges into the physicality and comic timing of their work, the audience soon realizes that any more production elements would have overcrowded things.

Nick Sugar, of the Town Hall Arts Center’s “Anything Goes,” assists the actors with direction and keeps the show’s pace at a perfectly madcap gait. The four performances of “Love Child” take place in the Finkel Auditorium at CMC, as the Breckenridge Theatre on Ridge Street undergoes renovation.
