Camps are organized into four main categories — adventure, arts, education and sports — and listed alphabetically by the name of the camp. ADVENTURE

BOEC and Boulder Community Health: Peak Camp



Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Old Cabin, Breckenridge

Peak Camp is a five-day overnight camp tailored to youth ages 9 to 13 with social and motor skills and sensory processing needs. Activities will include hiking, rock climbing and high-ropes course. All screening and enrollment goes through Boulder Community Health.

BOEC and Boulder Community Health: Summit Camp

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Old Cabin, Breckenridge, and mobile camping

Dates: July 25-29

Summit Camp is designed for campers with social, motor, language and sensory processing needs. This camp will assist campers in regulation skills in a supportive environment. This camp is for youth ages 12 to 16. Summit Camp will include whitewater rafting, mobile camping, high-ropes course, rock climbing and much more. All screening and enrollment goes through Boulder Community Health.

BOEC and Children’s Hospital Colorado: Camp Little Tree

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Old Cabin, Breckenridge

Dates: June 6-10

Camp Little Tree is a specialized camp for youth ages 8 to 12 with sensory integration impairments, as well as learning and/or attention deficits. This five-day overnight program is designed to meet the unique needs of these youth, along with providing safe and fun activities outdoors. Specially trained occupational therapists from Children’s Hospital Colorado utilize therapy principles and techniques to make this camp experience positive and motivating.

BOEC and Children’s Hospital Colorado: Camp Possible

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Old Cabin, Breckenridge

Dates: June 10-12

Camp Possible is designed for youth ages 8 to 12 diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Youth will live, work and play in a “family” group of six to eight campers, two to three staff members from the BOEC and two specialized therapists from Children’s Hospital Colorado (occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists or recreational therapists). Campers will assist with cooking and cleanup and will participate in a variety of outdoor activities, including rock climbing, canoeing, high-ropes course and outdoor education. Other activities include initiatives, crafts and group games.

BOEC and Children’s Hospital Colorado: Camp Zenith

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Scott Griffith Lodge, Breckenridge

Dates: July 17-21

Camp Zenith is a five-day overnight camp for youth ages 8 to 18 who have sustained a brain injury. During the day, campers will participate in rock climbing, canoeing or kayaking on the Dillon Reservoir, high-ropes course and crafts. In the evenings, campers participate in activities such as taking in the music of the Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, movie nights, group games and a modified campfire. Along with BOEC staff, the program includes specialized therapists from Children’s Hospital of Colorado (occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists or recreational therapists).

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Scott Griffith Lodge, Breckenridge

Dates: July 21-24

Cleft Camp is a four-day camp specifically for youth and young adults ages 8 to 18 with cleft lip and/or palate. This camp is designed to promote confidence, teamwork, independence and life skills. Activities include high-ropes course, canoeing, hiking and much more.

BOEC Camp Big Tree

Location: Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center Old Cabin, Breckenridge, and Buena Vista

Dates: June 19-23

Cost: $750 (scholarships are available)

This is a five-day overnight program for youth ages 12 to 16 with sensory integration disorders, autism, learning disabilities and/or attention deficits. Through a variety of outdoor activities, such as rock climbing, whitewater rafting and camping, campers will have the opportunity to practice social skills, teamwork and leadership that will transfer into their daily lives. Scholarships are available for youth from Colorado and Summit County.

BOEC Wilderness Camp

Location: Flat-water mobile canoe trip down Ruby and Horsethief canyons on the Colorado River (Loma, Colorado, to Westwater, Utah)

Dates: July 5-9

Cost: $850 (scholarships are available)

Wilderness Camp is a five-day overnight camp for young adults ages 16 to 25 with developmental and learning disabilities. Through outdoor activities designed around established experiential education models, students have the opportunity to develop social skills, teamwork and leadership qualities. This adventure-based program allows students to be involved in cooking, cleaning and gear preparation during the course, with an emphasis on having fun in a structured setting, as activities include canoeing, hiking and river camping. Scholarships are available for campers from Colorado and Summit County.

Breckenridge Mountain Camp

Location: Summit County

Dates: Monday-Saturday; June 6 -August 20

Cost: $45/daily

At Breckenridge Mountain Camp (BMC), kids ages 5-12 build character through recreation while exploring the natural beauty and fantastic amenities and events throughout Summit County. BMC is now offered Monday-Saturday. Children are grouped by age for active indoor and outdoor fun like swimming, rock climbing, hiking, ice skating, crafts and local field trips. Campers also take a weekly field trip to the region’s favorite attractions including Elitch Gardens, Water World and the Denver Zoo. Visitors are welcome to attend for a day, a week or more. BMC is a state-licensed program with flexible registration options. Lunch is also available for a small daily fee. Member discounts and Breckenridge resident/worker scholarships are available. BMC offers an afternoon half-day option for campers in our morning preschool and sports camps (transportation not provided).

Breckenridge Mountain Camp Counselor in Training

Location: Breckenridge

Dates: Monday-Friday; June 6-August 19 (no program on Wednesdays)

Cost: $20/day

The BMC Counselor in Training program is for motivated teens ages 13-17 looking for an active, fun summer, but who also want to learn responsibility. Each CIT is paired with a college-degreed counselor for one-on-one instruction and then given hands-on opportunities to use new skills such as programming, planning, goal setting, communication and team building. CITs are not required to attend each day but are highly encouraged to do so. Program may fulfill school-required community service. Application is required.

Breck Summer Day Camp

Location: Breckenridge Resort, Peak 8 Fun Park

Dates: Monday-Friday, June 10 to August 19

Cost: $100-250. Lunch included, ask about multi-day discounts.

For ages 5-13 years. Drop the kids off for half-day or full-day adventures at Breckenridge Ski Resort. The day camp features a curriculum that focuses on science, nature, crafts and more, while teaching kids valuable outdoor skills. Full-day sessions include lunch, and camp is run by CPR and first aid-certified counselors with a 1 to 10 ratio of counselors to campers. This camp is an official Colorado-licensed camp facility.

Explore the Thorne

Location: Silverthorne Recreation Center; North Pond Park (July 25-28 only)

Dates: 1-4 p.m., June 13-16, July 11-14 at rec center; July 25-28 at North Pond Park

Cost: Pass holders: $60. Non-pass holder: $72

A great outdoor class to get you out and about to explore Silverthorne. For youth ages 8-12 years. Activities may include — but are not limited to — hiking, fishing, scavenger hunt, tours of local businesses, Division of Wildlife and more.

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District Volunteer Projects

Location: Throughout the county

Dates: Several one-day projects each week, June-September

Cost: Free

All Friends of the Dillon Ranger District Projects are open to public participation of all ages and are a great activity for families. Projects may include trail improvements, weed pulls, tree plantings, litter cleanups or guided educational hikes.

G.I.R.L.S. on the Summit Wilderness Camp

Location: Breckenridge

Dates: Monday-Friday (no camp Wednesday); July 11-15

Cost: $125/weekly

G.I.R.L.S. stands for Generating Independence, Relationships and Lifelong Skills. This girls-only wilderness camp for ages 7-12 is an unforgettable experience that teaches girls the skills needed explore natural environments under the leadership of experienced female instructors. Hikes bring campers to exciting natural sites while teaching the orienting and wilderness skills to truly appreciate the outdoors. Campers bond with each other while learning skills that carry far beyond the week. Breckenridge resident/worker scholarships available. Kidtopia Discovery Days

Location: Keystone Resort, River Run Village Events Plaza

Dates: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, June 21 & 28; July 5, 12, 19 & 26; August 2 & 9

Explore the fun at the Kids’ Discovery Days every Tuesday between June 23 and August 11. The entertainer changes every Tuesday, plus it’s fun and it’s free. Everything starts at 11 a.m. Show (11:00-11:45am), bounce house, spin art, midway games and two face painters are all free. Face painter lines close early.

Kidtopia Kids’ Fest

Come experience a village trackless train ride, Bubble Foam Pit, pony rides, caricatures, face painters, balloon artists, photo booth, spin art, inflatable dual slide, bounce houses for kids, DJ and street entertainers for a day you won’t want to miss. Don’t forget, you’ll get wet in the bubble foam pit, so please bring a towel.

Outdoor Adventure

Wild Child Wilderness Camp

Wild Child Wilderness Camp teaches kids the skills needed to guide themselves through natural environments. Campers ages 7-12 become comfortable in the outdoors using orienting, camouflage, backcountry cooking skills and more. Dance Camp

Location: Silverthorne Recreation Center

For youth ages 8-12 years. The class will be divided into three teaching segments. Each day will feature hip hop and ballet. The middle segment will be 45 minutes of funky fun, including outside in the park, on the track and in the pool.

Scale the Summit with Kurtis

Location: Frisco Studio, 400 Granite St., Frisco;

Around the World With Disney

Location: Riverwalk Center, 150 W. Adams Ave., Breckenridge

Beethoven Lives Upstairs

Location: Riverwalk Center, 150 W. Adams Ave. Breckenridge

Dates: 6-7 p.m., Thursday, July 28

Cost: Free

In this family concert, a young boy is convinced his mother has rented out the upstairs room to a madman. That boarder is the cantankerously eccentric deaf composer Ludwig Van Beethoven who is busy composing his Ninth Symphony. The musical genius of Beethoven is magically illuminated as two actors share anecdotes and observations based on true incidents from Beethoven’s life in this family-friendly adventure full of history, drama, music and fun.

BreckCreate Elements of Art Camp for Kids

Location: Old Masonic Hall, 136 S. Main St., Breckenridge

Dates: 1-4 p.m. 5-day workshop, also Jul 12, 13, 14 + 15. Culminating Exhibit: Friday, July 15 from 4-5 p.m.

Cost: $150 for the week or $35 per day

For children ages 7 to 12 yrs. Learning to use the Elements of Art (line, shape, color, texture, space, value and form) are the building blocks to becoming a great artist. Campers will draw, paint, print and sculpt their way to mastering the elements. Instructor: Jennifer Thompson.

BreckCreate Fantastic Fibers Art Camp for Kids

Location: Randall Barn, Breckenridge Arts District

Summer Media and Technology Camp

This is a weeklong, technology-packed learning adventure for students age 11-14. Institute students learn about the technical, creative and business aspects of technology. Students work in the new CMC Computer Lab, accessing state-of-the-art hardware and computer applications working with experienced instructors who are professionals at the forefront of their fields. Students work in teams and learn digital photography and video capture and production, Adobe software including Photoshop, Premiere and InDesign, web site development, e-commerce shopping carts. At the end of the week, teams of students will apply and present all of their new skills in the form of a final team capstone project. Enrollment is limited to the first 15 qualified students.
