The Mountain Top Children’s Museum in Breckenridge hosted its ninth-annual Dog Wash, a fundraiser for the museum’s summer day camp program, on Wednesday, July 22. Campers cleaned up more than 30 dogs, adding the funds to the money earned the previous week selling more than 50 bags of homemade dog treats.

“We really wanted to come up with a fundraiser our camp kids could help with, hoping to involve them in the process of learning how a nonprofit works and trying to have them feel rewarded for their hard work,” said Laura Horvath, executive director of the Mountain Top Children’s Museum. “First thoughts were on a car wash, but no one can keep their cars clean up here for more than a day, and dogs seemed like a great idea — almost everyone has one, and they’re small enough for four or five kids to wash.”

Money raised will go toward materials and supplies for all of the fun, amazing and educational art and science activities the camp does, Horvath said. Main Street Station and Wyndham Resorts hosted the event at Main Street Station Plaza and Animal Lovers Pet Supply sponsored by supplying the soap and brushes.
