Breckenridge Backstage Theatre presents ‘Murderers’

The Breckenridge Backstage Theatre presents "Murderers," a comedy by Jeffrey Hatcher, directed by Christopher Willard ("Avenue Q," "Spamalot").

Someone is murdering the residents of Riddle Key Luxury and Senior Retirement Living Center and Golf Course in Riddle Key, Florida — where stylish seniors get all dolled up for dances, play golf competitively, and wonder why each week their neighbors seem to be dying off like flies. Gerald, Lucy and Minka appear to be everyday people, but they have one dark secret in common — they're murderers. In this black comedy, these three unlikely killers justify their crimes in the most outrageously funny ways. From Jeffrey Hatcher, author of "Three Viewings and A Picasso," the stories start with the answer to "whodunnit" and then proceed to tell how and why.

"Murderers" stars returning Backstage actress Leah Arnold ("Curves Ahead") as long-suffering Lucy Stickler, who tells the story of her husband's affair with a still-glorious femme fatale in "Margaret Faydle Comes To Town." Willard ("Fully Committed," "A Tuna Christmas") plays ne'r-do-well Gerald Halverson, whose confession of elicit love and a plan to shelter $5 million from the IRS takes center stage in "The Man Who Married His Mother-In-Law." Megan Meek Ramig ("Love, Loss and What I Wore") plays Minka Lupino, Riddle Key's ever-sunny, ever helpful assistant administrator who transforms into an avenging angel, on a mission to rid the retirement community of its predators in "Match Wits With Minka Lupino."

Murderers opens Jan. 14 and plays until Feb. 6. Full performance schedule is Jan. 14, 15, 21-23, 28, 29; Feb. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. All shows will be held at the Finkel Auditorium in the Colorado Mountain College, 107 Denison Placer Road, Breckenridge. Murderers contains some mature subject matter and adult language.
