City footage from Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Scotland and more intertwine with rich musical tones to create an extended music video unlike anything you’ve seen before. Hear the story of Steve Carlson’s nomadic journey to create his award-winning album in “Different Town,” while street musicians take center stage in “Find Your Way” during the Breckenridge Film Festival’s “music” block, slated for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at The Ten Mile Room at The Village.

Carlson’s “Torch in the Rain” is a catchy and heartfelt tune with a beautiful backstory, where the harmony of life and music intertwine. The film is a musical journey that follows the making of an album spanning nine countries and 14 cities. The story is of a singer-songwriter discovering musical inspiration from around the world and unexpectedly finding his muse, the woman who will become the love of his life.

“These documentaries show a side of society and life many of us wonder and dream about but never fully understand,” said Janice Kurbjun, executive director of the Breckenridge Film Fest.” Carlson’s documentary remains a dreamy representation on the life of a musician, but that’s part of the appeal.”

In “Find Your Way,” one busker (street musician) turned filmmaker takes viewers inside the world of street musicians. Filmed over the course of three years, five talented artists bare all as they cope with “making it” in a society driven relentlessly by the allure of fame. Featuring ’90s rocker Chris Ballew, of the Presidents of the U.S.A., and violin virtuoso Joshua Bell, this journey will make you think twice about whom you’re passing on the street.

Sponsored by WeedStream online radio station and the Breckenridge Cannabis Club, this block of films not only brings music to the screen but also takes music to the stage, as WeedStream produces Carlson in concert on Saturday night of the film festival weekend in a non-festival event.
