Breckenridge Grand Vacations hosts family-friendly Fall Festival

Summit Daily staff report

Breckenridge Grand Vacations will host the fourth-annual Fall Festival in conjunction with GoBreck and the town of Breckenridge on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge.

This free event will feature fall-themed entertainment and activities for the whole family. Free activities include bouncy castles, trampolines, face painting, balloon artists, pumpkin decorating, a live DJ, drumming, photo booth, caramel apple decorating, fall crafts, the "Cave of Confusion" and more. Food and beverages, including alcohol, are available for purchase. Costumes are encouraged.

"Breckenridge Grand Vacations is pleased to host Fall Festival year after year as a way to show our appreciation to the surrounding community," said Ginny Vietti, vice president of marketing for Breckenridge Grand Vacations. "This year, we are teaming up with GoBreck and the town of Breckenridge and will be able to accommodate more locals and visitors by having the event at the Riverwalk Center."

Sandy Metzger, event director for GoBreck, said the Fall Festival is a great event for the community and that it helps bring people to town during the slower shoulder season.

"It's geared toward locals, but it's also being promoted in Denver by Breckenridge Grand Vacations for a lot of their existing clients to try to get them up this weekend, to bring people into town during a non-busy weekend," Metzger said. "This is one thing GoBreck is trying to do with our events is extend our summer season, start earlier and extend them through the fall season. We're expanding our season and trying to keep the town busier so we don't have such down times."

This event is great because it's family focused, Metzger said, as opposed to other events the resort chamber puts on such as Oktoberfest and Ullr Fest.

"I'm really excited about this one because it's a family event, and best of all, it's all free," she said. "Where can you go and get free trampolines and face painting and caramel apples? And I think that's really great for families."

Parking will be available at the Riverwalk Center, F Lot and throughout town. Voluntary donations are encouraged and will benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center.
