The Bakers’ Brewery, located at 531 Silverthorne Lane in Silverthorne, will begin serving breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday, May 1. Stephanie Sadler, co-founder of the brewery, said adding breakfast was always part of the plan, due to the brewery’s proximity to four hotels, which drives morning business.
“Since we bought our building, we want to utilize the real estate as much as we can,” she said. “It fits with our bakery and brewery theme. Since we bake everything in-house, all the bread, it makes sense to add breakfast items like scones and cookies.”
The menu includes buckwheat pancakes, omelets, breakfast sandwiches on homemade bread, biscuits and gravy with house-made biscuits and huevos rancheros, as well as bakery items, some special mimosas, Bloody Marys and, of course, beer.
“Today, we were testing out some chocolate chip blackberry scones,” Sadler said. “Yesterday, we were testing out cinnamon rolls.”
The Bakers’ Brewery also will host a Kentucky Derby Soiree on Saturday, May 2, from noon to 3 p.m., with $5 mint julep specials for those who come in their best Derby duds. Starting at 11:30 p.m., customers can pay $5 to make their own Derby-inspired hat, and the brewery will be handing out prizes for best dressed and other contests.
The Bakers’ Brewery opens Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. for lunch and is currently only serving breakfast on weekends, Friday through Sunday, when the brewery opens at 7:30 a.m. Additional breakfast days will likely be added after Memorial Day, Sadler said. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Mi Casa in Breckenridge
Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant and Cantina, located at 600 S. Park Ave. in Breckenridge, will host its 32nd annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, with all proceeds benefitting the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center’s Willie Whalen Memorial Fund.
Whalen was with BOEC for nine years, eight as an adaptive snowboard instructor and one year as a volunteer, and the Willie Whalen Memorial Fund helps the BOEC provide quality adaptive recreation and education to people with disabilities and enables people in need of financial assistance to participate. Since the event began in 1984, Mi Casa’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration has contributed more than $425,000 to the BOEC, and organizers aim to raise another $25,000 this year.
The evening includes a special buffet of Mexican and Southwestern culinary creations by executive chef Bruce Carlton, with a chef-attended steak taco station, pork tenderloin chimichurri, calabacitas rellenos, spicy braised chard with potatoes and chorizo, house-made desserts and more, as well as a silent auction, live music, happy hour drink prices and giveaways. Tickets are $25 for adults — which includes a free house margarita or draft beer if purchased before Tuesday, May 5 — and $12 for kids 12 and younger.
