The Lake Dillon Theatre Company will present its 2013 “The Gift of Theatre Student Showcase,” a free thank you celebration of theatrical scenes, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, in honor of Colorado Gives Day.
The public will enjoy a program of songs, scenes and fun featuring students from the Lake Dillon Theatre Company youth and teen programs.
Audience members will also preview some of the performances they can expect to see from students in the upcoming older-adults acting classes. Finally, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the theater company and its plans for the 2014 season.
The program will feature scenes from the Lake Dillon Theatre Company Youth Theatre Workshop summer production of “School House Rock,” a bewitching scene from the Fall Youth Theatre Workshop “Grimm’s Fairy Tales,” teens performing works ranging from Neil Simon to Shakespeare and a very special surprise performance by the newest theater students, the students of the 2014 Senioritis Older Adult Acting Program.
“This is our way of giving back to those who generously support the theater and make enriching performing arts experiences possible for so many people throughout Summit County,” said Mari Geasair, Lake Dillon Theatre Company development director. “Community support is vital to the long-term success of any theater company, and the Lake Dillon Theatre Company is honored to have the enthusiastic support of our community.
“Because of the great folks who volunteer, donate and buy tickets, we have been able to expand our theater-education programs in 2013 and prepare for an exceptionally exciting lineup of programing for our 20th anniversary season in 2014. This is our way of saying thank you.”
“The Gift of Theatre Student Showcase” will take place at the Lake Dillon Theatre, 176 Lake Dillon Drive.
Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., and the program will begin promptly at 3. Refreshments will be provided.
