The Matt Spinks Trio will play Alma’s Only Bar on Friday, May 8. The Matt Spinks Trio is a rock, bluegrass, pop and blues band, all at the same time. Collective influences include Led Zeppelin, Rush, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Mayer, Joe Bonamassa, Bela Fleck and even Tony Furtado. The musicianship is exemplary, with originals always landing very close to the hearts of the listeners, yet the band’s show remains light-hearted and fun thanks to a combined positive presence on stage. The show starts at 9 p.m., and there’s no cover. Find Alma’s Only Bar on Facebook for more information.

Delta blues at Blue River Bistro

Mark Schlaefer brings his delta blues to the Blue River Bistro on Friday, May 8. Schlaefer writes personal acoustic blues about his life in the Colorado High Country. “Even though these songs were written above 9,000 feet, they still sound firmly rooted in delta mud,” the artist said of his album, “The Sweet Honey Mead,” released in 2002. “Dressed in plain spoken words, that sound cuts to the core of the human experience and reveals the indomitability of our souls.” The music runs from 5-10 p.m., and there’s no cover.
