Mark Schlaefer brings his delta blues to the Blue River Bistro on Friday, May 1. Schlaefer writes personal acoustic blues about his life in the Colorado High Country. “Even though these songs were written above 9,000 feet, they still sound firmly rooted in delta mud,” the artist said of his album, “The Sweet Honey Mead,” released in 2002. “Dressed in plain spoken words, that sound cuts to the core of the human experience and reveals the indomitability of our souls.” The music runs from 5 to 10 p.m., and there’s no cover. Live music at Loveland featuring Boo Daddy

Loveland Ski Area will host Boo Daddy outside the Rathskeller Bar at the base of the Basin on Saturday, May 2, for après ski. Wherever it goes, Boo Daddy has been packing dance floors with its high-energy rock ’n’ roll, funk and blues sounds since 2001. Shakin’ at the Basin with Whitewater Ramble

Whitewater Ramble will kick off the Shakin’ at the Basin May Concert Series on Saturday, May 2. Described as high-octane Rocky Mountain dancegrass, Whitewater Ramble uses a simple recipe to craft its sound: start with bluegrass instrumentation, add drums, and finish with a boundary-less approach to grassing-up everything from disco house grooves to roots to Americana. Closing Day celebration with Funky Johnson

Following the tradition of the late Arnie J. Green, celebrate the end of another ski season on Sunday, May 3, at Loveland Ski Area, with Closing Day music from Funky Johnson on the patio, plus drink specials from Tommyknocker Brewery. Funky Johnson is a six-piece collective of local musicians dedicated to high-energy funk, R&B and soul. The battery is led by Dave Nichols on drums and Christofari the Red Dread on percussion, along with Dan Brewer on bass, Xman421 on keyboards, Chris Bauer on guitar and lead vocals and Jessica Jones on vocals. Funky Johnson keeps alive and reinvigorates classic songs by artists such as Earth Wind and Fire, Rick James, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, James Brown and Sly and the Family Stone.
