Following a sold-out event last June, The Climax Molybdenum Co. will present the second-annual Cajun Crawfish Boil to benefit the National Repertory Orchestra on Friday, June 5. The ultimate Bayou experience will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Mountain HOPE Foundation Barn in Breckenridge.

“We wanted to come up an event that was fun, different and reasonably priced,” said Julie Chandler, director of marketing and development for the NRO. “A crawfish boil with a Cajun band is an entertaining and delicious way to kick off the beginning of the summer season. Last year, the NRO staff enjoyed it as much as the attendees.”

Gumbo le Funque, a New Orleans-style funk band, will provide the dancing music, and The Lost Cajun restaurant, which has become a local institution serving up some of the finest Cajun food outside of the Big Easy since 2010, will once again be serving up its Louisiana delicacies.

“This year, we will add lots more food and more boilers, so the crawfish will come out faster,” Chandler said. “We sold out last year, so be sure to get your tickets early.”

Advance tickets are $30 and include crawfish, all the fixings and dessert beignets provided by The Lost Cajun, beer hand crafted by Broken Compass Brewery, drinks provided by the Breckenridge Distillery, wine from the Gold Pan Saloon, tastings from Olive Fusion and a shuttle service from downtown Breckenridge provided by The Adventure Co. There also will be silent auction items to bid on throughout the evening, including Vail Resort season passes and tickets to Disneyland.

“It was a refreshing experience to be able to have such wonderful Cajun food in the heart of the Rockies,” said Travis Wilson, video and photography intern for the NRO’s 2014 season, about last year’s Crawfish Boil. “I was especially taken aback by how many of the other local businesses joined forces to let their presence be known with all the delicious food and beverages they willingly offered. Amazing what $30 will Bayou.”

As they say down in Louisiana, “come pass a good time” at the Cajun Crawfish Boil and enjoy a taste Southern food and hospitality. For ticket purchase and questions, call (970) 453-5825 or visit http://www.nromusic.com.
