Plan your Summit County weekend: Copper Mountain Music Festival
July 6, 2017
It's been said that Summit County summers are even busier than the winters. With all the festivals, free music and outdoor recreation, it's no surprise people flock here every weekend. This weekend there are numerous free concerts, fundraisers, a film and festival to choose from.
Copper Mountain Music Fest
Back for its third year, the Copper Mountain Music Fest will feature three days of bluegrass and Americana music from artists all around the country. This year's lineup includes Del McCoury, Aaron Burdett, Rob Ickes, Trey Hensley, Suzy Bogguss, Travis Lawson and more. Get ready for plenty of toe-tapping and heel stomping outside surrounded by Copper's beautiful mountainside. See highly acclaimed musicians for free spread across multiple stages, along with music workshops, jam sessions and outdoor activities — the fireworks display has been canceled. There will also be yoga classes, vendors, nature talks and kids activities. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Friday-Sunday. For more information, visit CopperColorado.com.
one last show
The winner of six Grammy Awards and 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Dr. John will perform the last show of the season at the Dillon Amphitheatre before its renovation this Saturday at 7 p.m. The fireworks planned for after the show have been canceled due to increased fire danger and a fire ban. Dr. John is an American singer-songwriter, voice actor, pianist and guitarist, whose music combines blues, pop, jazz, zydeco and rock. Over the decades, Dr. John has recorded more than 20 albums and is known for his lively performances on stage. This is a free concert. Following this show, the weekend concerts will transition to performances in the Amphitheatre to performances in the town park. For more information, visit TownOfDillon.com.
